Egypt’s army claims it found cure for AIDS, hepatitis C

The Egyptian military medical community claims it has found a cure for AIDS and hepatitis C.
“I defeated AIDS with the grace of my God at the rate of 100 percent. And I defeated hepatitis C,” said Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Abdel-Atti, the head of the Cancer Treatment and Screening Center, in CNN.
It didn’t take long for some in the medical world to erupt in criticism.
“I want to be clear and explicit — what has been said and published about the invention of the armed forces hurts the image of scientists and science in Egypt,” said Essam Heggy, the scientific adviser to the president, in a statement to a local newspaper reported by CNN. He also said the announcement of a cure was a “scientific scandal” for Egypt.
The army medical community uses what’s called a “Complete Cure Device” to draw blood from the patient. The disease in the drawn blood is then reportedly broken down, purified and put back in the patient, said Dr. Ihsan Hanfy Hussein, a member of Mr. Abdel-Atti’s research team, in CNN.
“I will take the AIDS from the patient, and I will nourish the patient on the AIDS treatment,” he said, in CNN. “I will give it to him like a skewer of Kofta [ground meat dish] to nourish him. I will take it away from him as a disease and give it back to him in the form of a cure. This is the greatest form of scientific breakthrough.

Canadian Researchers Obtain A Simple Cure For Cancer, But Major Pharmaceutical Corporations Aren’t Interested

EDMONTON, CANADA, May 14, 2011 /NewsRelease/ - Canadian scientists tested dichloroacetate (DCA) on human’s cells; it killed lung, breast and brain cancer cells and left the healthy cells alone. It was tested on Rats inflicted with severe tumors; their cells shrank once they were fed with water supplemented with DCA. The drug is widely available and is easy to use, so why the major drug companies aren’t involved? Or the Media thinking about this find?
Pharmaceutical companies are not investing in this cancer research because DCA method cannot be patented
Researchers at the University of Alberta, in Edmonton, Canada have cured cancer, yet there is a little ripple in the news or in TV. It’s a simple technique using a very basic drug. The method employs dichloroacetate, which is now used to treat metabolic disorders. So, there isn’t any concern of side effects or about their long-term effects.
This drug doesn’t require a patent, so anyone can use it widely and cheaply compared to the costly cancer drugs made by major pharmaceutical companies.
In human bodies there is a natural cancer fighting Mitochindria, the powerhouse/engine of the human cell, however they need to be triggered to work. Scientists used to think these mitochondria cells were damaged and thus ineffective against cancer. So they used to focus on glycolysis, that is less effective in curing cancer and more wasteful. The drug manufacturers focused on this glycolysis method to fight cancer. This DCA however doesn’t rely on glycolysis instead on mitochondria; it triggers the mitochondria which in turn fights the cancer cells.
The side effect of this could it be also reactivates a process called apoptosis. You see, mitochondria contain an all-too-important self-destruct button that can not be pressed in cancer cells. Without it, tumors grow larger as cells refuse to be extinguished. Fully functioning mitochondria, thanks to DCA, can once again die.
With glycolysis switched off, the body produces less lactic acid, so the bad tissue around cancer cells doesn’t break down and seed new tumors.
Pharmaceutical companies are not investing in this research because DCA method cannot be patented, without a patent they can’t make money, like they are doing with their AIDS Patent. Because the pharmaceutical companies won’t develop this, the article says other independent laboratories should start producing this drug and do more research to confirm all the above findings and produce drugs. All the groundwork can be achieved in collaboration with the Universities, who will be glad to aid in such research and may develop an effective drug for curing cancer.

Cure For Cancer Found In Canada – Dichloroacetate (DCA)

This is one of the most ground breaking things imaginable with a certain impact if it came to fruition. The cure for cancer. Yet why have we not heard much about it?
breast cancer
One of the most feared things a doctor could tell you, is that you have cancer. For most this means you completely tune out every other word the doctor says and your mind goes racing into another dimension. You probably think about your life, the things you have and have not done. The road ahead of you to attempt to combat this horrible disease. Maybe even the costs and potential debt you or your family may accrue from the dreaded C word.
There are many different types of cancer and they can invade almost every part of the human body. As a society we have been fighting it forever and shelling out millions of dollars into potential cures and research. Even former United States president Richard Nixon declared war on cancer in 1971. This is a serious and seemingly unending battle.
What if the cure was readily available? Better yet, what if it only cost pennies?!
That’s exactly what a Dr. Michelakis and his team at the University of Alberta are claiming. The drug, dichloroacetate (DCA) can alter the metabolism of cancer cells and thus causes them to age and be destroyed. It’s important to note that it kills the cancer cells but only the bad ones. Michelakis have been researching the effects of DCA on non-human subjects since 2007. It has been proven successful and consistently reduced the cancerous cells. Since then, and perhaps more importantly the team has accomplished the same results in human trials. This project is in desperate need of funding to make it a wide spread available treatment and the likely candidates: the pharmaceutical companies are not interested as there isn’t millions of dollars to be made.

It’s sad that something this useful comes down to greed but that is exactly the case. The drug does not have a patent and therefore anyone can manufacture it without paying a fee and furthermore the drug is so cheap to make it costs pennies! This from a business point of view is not profitable and thus not worth investing in.
From a life stand point it is INVALUABLE
We are so close but yet so far from banishing the leading cause of death in Canada and other countries around the world. A 2011 report from Cancer.org claims that 40% of woman and 45% of men in Canada will develop cancer during their lifetimes. That is ASTRONOMICAL. It’s estimated that 177, 800 new cases of cancer and 75, 000 deaths from cancer occur each year in Canada.
All I can hope for is someone generous to step up to plate and realize how little money means in comparison to a true cure.

DCA Cancer Cure

Canadian researchers find a simple cure for cancer, but major pharmaceutical companies are not interested.

Researchers at the University of Alberta, in Edmonton, Canada have cured cancer last week, yet there is a little ripple in the news or in TV. It is a simple technique using very basic drug. The method employs dichloroacetate, which is currently used to treat metabolic disorders. So, there is no concern of side effects or about their long term effects.

This drug doesn't require a patent, so anyone can employ it widely and cheaply compared to the costly cancer drugs produced by major pharmaceutical companies.

Canadian scientists tested this dichloroacetate (DCA) on human's cells; it killed lung, breast and brain cancer cells and left the healthy cells alone. It was tested on Rats inflicted with severe tumors; their cells shrank when they were fed with water supplemented with DCA. The drug is widely available and the technique is easy to use, why the major drug companies are not involved? Or the Media interested in this find?

In human bodies there is a natural cancer fighting human cell, the mitochondria, but they need to be triggered to be effective. Scientists used to think that these mitochondria cells were damaged and thus ineffective against cancer. So they used to focus on glycolysis, which is less effective in curing cancer and more wasteful. The drug manufacturers focused on this glycolysis method to fight cancer. This DCA on the other hand doesn’t rely on glycolysis instead on mitochondria; it triggers the mitochondria which in turn fights the cancer cells.

The side effect of this is it also reactivates a process called apoptosis. You see, mitochondria contain an all-too-important self-destruct button that can't be pressed in cancer cells. Without it, tumors grow larger as cells refuse to be extinguished. Fully functioning mitochondria, thanks to DCA, can once again die.

With glycolysis turned off, the body produces less lactic acid, so the bad tissue around cancer cells doesn't break down and seed new tumors.

Pharmaceutical companies are not investing in this research because DCA method cannot be patented, without a patent they can’t make money, like they are doing now with their AIDS Patent. Since the pharmaceutical companies won't develop this, the article says other independent laboratories should start producing this drug and do more research to confirm all the above findings and produce drugs. All the groundwork can be done in collaboration with the Universities, who will be glad to assist in such research and can develop an effective drug for curing cancer.

Origins:   In 2007, medical researchers at the University of Alberta reported that dichloroacetate (DCA), a relatively simple compound, had showed promise for treating cancer in rodent models, and the university's DCA Research Team announced they would begin clinical trials of DCA on human patients in the spring of 2007. One of the members of that research team, Dr. Evangelos Michelakis, expressed concern that because DCA was not patented, the potential profit margins in marketing it would likely be small, and thus it might be difficult to obtain funding for DCA clinical trials from private investors:
The DCA compound is not patented and not owned by any pharmaceutical company, and, therefore, would likely be an inexpensive drug to administer, says Michelakis, the Canada Research Chair in Pulmonary Hypertension and Director of the Pulmonary Hypertension Program with Capital Health, one of Canada's largest health authorities.

However, as DCA is not patented, Michelakis is concerned that it may be difficult to find funding from private investors to test DCA in clinical trials. He is grateful for the support he has already received from publicly funded agencies, such as the Canadian Institutes for Health Research (CIHR), and he is hopeful such support will continue and allow him to conduct clinical trials of DCA on cancer patients.
Unfortunately, this preliminary information soon led to hyperbolic claims that a "simple cure for cancer" had been found but a lack of interest on the part of pharmaceutical companies was preventing it from reaching cancer patients, prompting some desperate cancer sufferers to seek it out for themselves from unscrupulous vendors:
Note that there were two assumptions about the study [in 2007]. First, these bloggers and pundits assumed that the cell culture and animal work were definitive evidence that DCA might be a "cure" for cancer. Second, the assumption was that, because the drug was out of patent and very cheap to make, neither the government nor pharmaceutical companies would be interested in funding it, thus condemning thousands, maybe millions, of people to die of cancer unnecessarily. Unfortunately, [articles] featured headlines to that effect and quotes by the investigator Evangelos Michelakis lamenting how he had had difficulties finding funding to do the next step, clinical trials in cancer. As a result of these sensationalistic stories, unscrupulous "businessmen" sought to bring DCA to the masses. A frenzy of sorts was unleashed, with desperate cancer patients scrambling to find DCA.
Despite investigators' concerns about potential difficulties in obtaining funding, DCA studies have been undertaken, and in 2010 the substance was in the news again after researchers published a paper reporting their results with testing DCA on glioblastoma tumors:
The researchers looked at the impact of DCA on tumor cells from patients with an aggressive form of brain cancer called glioblastoma, which generally does not respond well to treatment.

They performed some very sophisticated lab experiments which demonstrated the impact of DCA on the tumor cells from 49 patients with this cancer. The experiments generally support the effectiveness of DCA at altering cell behavior.

The investigators also treated five patients who had glioblastoma with DCA. The only side effect they found was a reversible change in peripheral nerve function. No other side effects were described. Of the five patients, three had progressing disease despite prior treatment and two were newly diagnosed. Those two patients were treated with different protocols. The results of the treatments were variable as were the approaches to treatment. Nonetheless, the report shows some MRI pictures pre and post treatment which show regression of the cancers in two patients.
As Dr. J. Leonard Lichtenfeld, Deputy Chief Medical Officer for the national office of the American Cancer Society, wrote of that last study in 2010, DCA studies appear to be worth pursuing, but the substance is still far from being proved an effective treatment for any type of cancer, much less a cancer "cure":
How would I characterize this report?

Simply stated, the science is intriguing and I believe is something to be pursued both in the lab and in the clinic. BUT, and this is a big but, it is not a cure for glioblastoma or any other cancer based on these results.

My concern is that this paper is going to be transformed — like the last one — into something that it is not, namely that this is definitive evidence that DCA is the magic bullet for cancer treatment, particularly in glioblastoma (which is a cancer that has a very poor prognosis).

This research still needs lots of work before we know whether it works or doesn't work, and whether it is really safe or not when given to patients with cancer under a variety of circumstances.

If that sounds overly cautious, so be it. I have seen too many dashed hopes in my medical career which make me a bit cautious about reports like this. That's not to say I don't think it could work — it could, as I mentioned above — but I want to see evidence in well done trials that prove the point that DCA is effective in the treatment of which cancers under what circumstances.

In the case of DCA, internet traffic zoomed with reports of its purported success in curing cancer — in lab animals. Clinics sprung up, and are probably still active. The risk is that we are going to see a resurgence of this now that the new report has been issued.

We shall see how this progresses. Hopefully, clinical trials will proceed appropriately.

And I stand by my skepticism, while encouraging further research to answer the fundamental question whether or not DCA really works in treating cancer.

In the meantime, caution is advised. Don't become the victim of a cancer scam. The scamsters are sure to follow this report as night follows day.

Naturel Cure for Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer is caused by the rapid mutation and replication of prostate cancer (PC) cells. These mutated PC cells form into tumors. The FDA forbids any natural substance or herb from being labeled as a cure for a disease, but there are complementary and alternative treatment options to help slow the progression of prostate cancer. Have a question? Get an answer from a doctor now!
  1. Supplements

    • Soy protein, melatonin, shark cartilage, sulforaphane and Coenzyme Q10 all can be helpful for treating prostate cancer.
Soy protein has androgenic properties that disrupt the production of testosterone, and PC cells can't grow without testosterone. A study at the Division of Radiation Oncology at San Gerardo Hospital in Milan, Italy, found that late-stage cancer patients who had previously not responded to chemotherapy showed a positive response when given melatonin along with the chemotherapy.
A 2005 study by the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute found sulforaphane, a supplement derived from a compound in broccoli, starves PC cells of the oxygen required to reproduce.
Shark cartilage is antiangiogenic. It disrupts the supply of blood to forming tumors without affecting other organs and blood vessels.
Coenzyme Q10 is a powerful antioxidant. An unpublished study cited on e-Vitamins showed a reduction of up to 78 percent in the levels of prostate-specific antigens (PSAs) in men who supplemented with CoQ10. More studies and research are required to determine how CoQ10 works before doctors can be certain it is beneficial for prostate cancer.

    Vitamins and Minerals

    • Vitamin E and vitamin D seem promising for restricting the growth of cancer cells. Men diagnosed with prostate cancer often have low levels of both. Vitamin E is an antioxidant and is particularly useful to smokers with prostate cancer. Vitamin D is critical to good health and is readily available by spending 20 minutes in the afternoon sun without sunscreen. A study published in volume 163 of the Journal of Urology determined men with prostate cancer that had spread to the bones reported a decrease in the level of pain while taking vitamin D. Vitamin D also inhibited the growth of cancer cells. Avoid taking too much calcium, as it may block the complete absorption of vitamin D, limiting its positive impact.

    Nutrition

    • A healthy low-fat diet will strengthen your immune system and speed healing. Men with prostate cancer should eat lots of tomatoes, which are high in lycopene. In multiple studies, including one published in volume 166 of the Journal of Urology, patients who consumed lycopene daily for three weeks exhibited dead cancer cells and lowered PSA levels (by an average of two points). Lycopene is also useful to prevent prostate cancer.
Cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, brussels sprouts and cauliflower are also beneficial for treating and preventing prostate cancer because they contain some level of sulforaphane.
Multiple studies, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition and the journal of Cancer and Nutrition, discovered men who ate two to three servings of fish weekly had lower PSA levels.

California Scientist Seeks Cancer Cure With Bitcoin

California Scientist Seeks Cancer Cure With Bitcoin
Stem cell research, while still in its early stages, holds the opportunity for science to grow its understanding by leaps and bounds, unlocking doors that could protect humans against Alzheimer’s Disease, Cancer, Heart Disease, HIV and AIDS, advocates say. Researching and fulfilling this potential is the goal of Gene and Cell Technologies , a California-based research center that recently moved into a 3,000-square-foot facility and now accepts bitcoin, as well as hard currencies like gold, for purchases at its online store. Founded in 2013, veteran stem cell researcher and Gene and Cell Technologies CEO John Schloendorn said the company is still “ramping up” its operations, producing the components that it will use when its new center is fully operational. Just three months in, his team is still focused primarily on the infrastructure that will support its ambitious initia...

Skin cancer 'cure' found

A vaccine, which attacks tumour cells, leaving healthy cells undamaged and carries agents that boost the body's response to skin cancer, is being tested in the UK. And up till now, it has apparently helped some patients fully recover from melanoma, even in its advanced stages, reports The Telegraph.
Dr Howard Kaufman, of Chicago's Rush University Medical Centre, said: "Our study shows we may have a cure for some advanced melanoma patients and a drug which has real benefits for others.
"This will save thousands of lives a year." (ANI)

What is Skin Cancer?

Cancer develops when DNA, the molecule found in cells that encodes genetic information, becomes damaged and the body cannot repair the damage. These damaged cells begin to grow and divide uncontrollably. When this occurs in the skin, skin cancer develops. As the damaged cells multiply, they form a tumor. Since skin cancer generally develops in the epidermis, the outermost layers of skin, a tumor is usually clearly visible. This makes most skin cancers detectable in the early stages
Causes
Sun exposure is the leading cause of skin cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, “Many of the more than 1 million skin cancers diagnosed each year could be prevented with protection from the sun’s rays.” Scientists now know that exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays damages DNA in the skin. The body can usually repair this damage before gene mutations occur and cancer develops. When a person’s body cannot repair the damaged DNA, which can occur with cumulative sun exposure, cancer develops.

In some cases, skin cancer is an inherited condition. Between 5% and 10% of melanomas develop in people with a family history of melanoma.

Soursop for Cancer as The Natural Cure

fresh soursop
Soursop for cancer cure becomes the best alternative treatment that could be used for the best natural cure for cancer in nowadays. As we know, in nowadays many people prefer to use the alternative treatment to modern treatment. This is happened because in nowadays, the modern cure has the expensive price.
People could see the difference of the modern cure with the alternative cure, when people realized that there is a different way on the treatment usage. Of course, people could see the best things to know about the alternative treatments to makes the better cure for the cancer disease.
The great advantages that we could get from this soursop for cancer becomes very famous in all around the world in nowadays because people could see the effectiveness of the soursop cancer treatment itself.
soursop for cancerPeople could see that every parts of a soursop tree could give so many benefits for people health, especially for the cancer cure. Of course, people with cancer would be very happy because they could get the better cure with alternative way for the cancer disease. Many people believe, by using this kind of alternative treatment, they could get the best cure for their cancer.
Talking about soursop and cancer, there is also another alternative treatment that could be used to cure the cancer disease. The other alternative cure is the asparagus and cancer disease.
Same with the soursop, asparagus also popular as the foods that could cure cancer. But, in fact, the soursop for cancer still being the number one cure, it may be because the soursop fruits are easier to get than the asparagus. Of course, we need to know that we could found so many great ways to cure our cancer.
Of course, the soursop for cancer has been proved as the best cure for cancer by so many researchers. But, there are also a lot of people that did not believe that soursop fruit could be used to cure cancer. So, we have to see how the soursop fruits work to cure our cancer disease with the alternative ways.
The Soursop Fruit
The soursop fruit also called as the small evergreen tea. It is also known as the graviola. Many people said that this kind of fruit has the combination taste between the strawberry and pineapple. Many people loves to makes the soursop fruit itself becomes a great ingredients of some foods and beverages, such as the ice cream, sorbet, apple pie, and the other kinds of foods.
Even, many people did not realized that this delicious food could be used to the soursop for cancer cure.
The Soursop and Cancer
How the soursop for cancer treatment works has not been declared in so many researches yet. What people know in nowadays is that all parts of the soursop plants could be used as the cancer cure in nowadays. Of course, many people would believe that they need the best cure for cancer. Besides the fruits, people still can consume the leaves as the cancer cure.
The Nutrition Content
The nutrition content of the soursop fruit is very high. That is why soursop for cancer becomes very famous. The nutrition content of a soursop fruit are: Polyunsaturated fat, Saturated fat, Protein, Dietary fiber, Carbohydrate, Calcium’s, Calories, Phosphorus, Fiber, Iron, Thiamine, Vitamin C, Riboflavin, Sodium, Lysine, Tryptophan, Niacin, Methionine, Ascorbic acid.
medicinal benefits of soursopSoursop VS Chemotherapy
Many people said that chemotherapy is better than soursop for cancer. Of course, we need to proof it first.
As we know, we could found so many great facts about both soursop and chemotherapy itself. Of course, we need to choose which one is best for us. The chemotherapy could be used as the destroyers of the cancer cell, make it stop spreading, and also slow the growth of the cancer cells itself.
Of course, the process is hurt, but we need to make sure that the cancer cells are died. The side effects of the chemotherapy are the hair loss in our all body parts. The soursop itself could be used for the same thing with the chemotherapy does, but of course, we would not be found any side effects.

Has A Potential Cancer Cure Been Found?

A cancer patient has made a full recovery after being injected with billions of his own immune cells in the first case of its kind, doctors have disclosed.
The 52-year-old, who was suffering from advanced skin cancer, was free from tumours within eight weeks of undergoing the procedure.
After two years he is still free from the disease which had spread to his lymph nodes and one of his lungs.
Doctors took cells from the man’s own defence system that were found to attack the cancer cells best, cloned them and injected back into his body, in a process known as “immunotherapy”.
Experts said that the case could mark a landmark in the treatment of cancer.
It raises hopes of a possible new way of fighting the disease, which claims 150,000 lives in Britain every year.
Ed Yong, health information manager at Cancer Research UK, said: “It’s very exciting to see a cancer patient being successfully treated using immune cells cloned from his own body. While it’s always good news when anyone with cancer gets the all clear, this treatment will need to be tested in large clinical trials to work out how widely it could be used.”
However, the treatment could prove extremely expensive and scientists say that more research is needed to prove its effectiveness.
A dramatic example of immunotherapy was reported two years ago by one pioneer of the field, Dr Steven Rosenberg of the US National Cancer Institute, who eradicated cancer from two dying men using genetically modified versions of their own cells.
Both Mark Origer and “Thomas M” were suffering from advanced melanoma but the hope is that such methods could be customised to attack other common cancers, notably breast, colon and lung.
Dr Rosenberg told The Daily Telegraph the new work is an “interesting study that helps to confirm the effectiveness of cell transfer immunotherapy for treating cancer patients. We have now treated 93 patients with metastatic melanoma using their own anti-tumour cells with response rates up to 72 per cent. Mark Origer remains disease free now over three years after treatment.”

THC found to cure Gliomas cancer

Gliomas (tumors in the brain) are especially aggressive malignant forms of cancer, often resulting in the death of affected patients within one to two years following diagnosis. There is no cure for gliomas and most available treatments provide only minor symptomatic relief.

A review of the modern scientific literature reveals numerous preclinical studies and one pilot clinical study demonstrating cannabinoids’ ability to act as antineoplastic agents, particularly on glioma cell lines.

Writing in the September 1998 issue of the journal FEBS Letters, investigators at Madrid’s Complutense University, School of Biology, first reported that delta-9-THC induced apoptosis (programmed cell death) in glioma cells in culture.[1] Investigators followed up their initial findings in 2000, reporting that the administration of both THC and the synthetic cannabinoid agonist WIN 55,212-2 “induced a considerable regression of malignant gliomas” in animals.[2] Researchers again confirmed cannabinoids’ ability to inhibit tumor growth in animals in 2003.[3]

That same year, Italian investigators at the University of Milan, Department of Pharmacology, Chemotherapy and Toxicology, reported that the non-psychoactive cannabinoid, cannabidiol (CBD), inhibited the growth of various human glioma cell lines in vivo and in vitro in a dose dependent manner. Writing in the November 2003 issue of the Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics Fast Forward, researchers concluded, “Non-psychoactive CBD … produce[s] a significant anti-tumor activity both in vitro and in vivo, thus suggesting a possible application of CBD as an antineoplastic agent.”[4]

In 2004, Guzman and colleagues reported that cannabinoids inhibited glioma tumor growth in animals and in human glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) tumor samples by altering blood vessel morphology (e.g., VEGF pathways). Writing in the August 2004 issue of Cancer Research, investigators concluded, “The present laboratory and clinical findings provide a novel pharmacological target for cannabinoid-based therapies.”[5]

More recently, investigators at the California Pacific Medical Center Research Institute reported that the administration of THC on human glioblastoma multiforme cell lines decreased the proliferation of malignant cells and induced cell death more rapidly than did the administration of WIN 55,212-2. Researchers also noted that THC selectively targeted malignant cells while ignoring healthy ones in a more profound manner than the synthetic alternative.[6]

Most recently, Guzman and colleagues reported that THC administration decreases recurrent glioblastoma multiforme tumor growth in patients diagnosed with recurrent GBM. In the first ever pilot clinical trial assessing the use of cannabinoids and GBM, investigators found that the intratumoral administration of THC was associated with reduced tumor cell proliferation in two of nine subjects. "The fair safety profile of THC, together with its possible anti-proliferative action on tumor cells reported here and in other studies, may set the basis for future trials aimed at evaluating the potential antitumoral activity of cannabinoids," investigators concluded.[7] Several additional investigators have also recently called for further exploration of cannabis-based therapies for the treatment of glioma.[8-10]

In addition to cannabinoids’ ability to moderate glioma cells, separate studies demonstrate that cannabinoids and endocannabinoids can also inhibit the proliferation of other various cancer cell lines, including breast carcinoma,[11-14] prostate carcinoma,[15-17] colorectal carcinoma,[18] gastric adenocarcinoma,[19] skin carcinoma,[20] leukemia cells,[21-22] nueroblastoma,[23] lung carcinoma,[24-25] uterus carcinoma,[26] thyroid epithelioma,[27] pancreatic adenocarcinoma,[28-29], cervical carcinoma[30] and lymphoma.[31]

Many experts now believe that cannabinoids “may represent a new class of anticancer drugs that retard cancer growth, inhibit angiogenesis and the metastatic spreading of cancer cells,”[32] and have recommended that at least one cannabinoid, cannabidiol, now be utilized in cancer therapy.[33]

Can Pot Extend Ted Kennedy's Life? Too Bad It's Illegal

By Paul Armentano, NORML. Posted May 23, 2008.

Scientific studies indicate that marijuana can halt the spread of numerous cancer cells, including the type that Kennedy suffers from.
In the 14 years I've worked in marijuana law reform, few events have struck me as so needlessly tragic as the federal government's consistent and deliberate stifling of medical cannabis research. Nowhere is the Fed's refusal to allow this science more overt and inhumane than as it pertains to the investigation of cannabinoids as anti-cancer agents, particularly in the treatment of gliomas.

As noted in today's wire stories regarding Sen. Edward Kennedy's diagnosis, glioma is an aggressive form of cancer that affects an estimated 10,000 Americans annually. Standard treatments for the cancer include radiation and chemotherapy, though neither procedure has proven particularly effective -- the disease kills approximately half its victims within one year and all within three years.

But what if there was an alternative treatment for gliomas that could selectively target the cancer while leaving healthy cells intact? And what if federal bureaucrats were aware of this treatment, but deliberately withheld this information from the public?

Sadly, the above questions are not hypothetical. As I originally wrote in a 2004 essay for Alternet.org, titled Pot Shows Promise as a Cancer Cure":

In fact, the first experiment documenting pot's anti-tumor effects took place in 1974 at the Medical College of Virginia at the behest of the U.S. government. The results of that study, reported in an Aug. 18, 1974, Washington Post newspaper feature, were that marijuana's psychoactive component, THC, "slowed the growth of lung cancers, breast cancers and a virus-induced leukemia in laboratory mice, and prolonged their lives by as much as 36 percent."

Despite these favorable preliminary findings, U.S. government officials banished the study and refused to fund any follow-up research until conducting a similar -- though secret -- clinical trial in the mid-1990s. That study, conducted by the U.S. National Toxicology Program to the tune of $2 million, concluded that mice and rats administered high doses of THC over long periods had greater protection against malignant tumors than untreated controls.

However, rather than publicize their findings, government researchers shelved the results, which only became public after a draft copy of its findings were leaked in 1997 to a medical journal which in turn forwarded the story to the national media.

In the years since the completion of the National Toxicology trial, the U.S. government has yet to fund a single additional study examining the drug's potential anti-cancer properties. Is this a case of federal bureaucrats putting politics over the health and safety of patients? You be the judge.

Fortunately, in the past 10 years scientists overseas have generously picked up where U.S. researchers so abruptly left off, reporting that cannabinoids can halt the spread of numerous cancer cells -- including prostate cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, and in one human clinical trial, brain cancer.

Writing earlier this year in the journal Expert Review of Neurotherapeutics, Italian researchers reiterated, "(C)annabinoids have displayed a great potency in reducing glioma tumor growth either in vitro or in animal experimental models. (They) appear to be selective antitumoral agents as they kill glioma cells without affecting the viability of nontransformed counterparts." Not one mainstream media outlet reported their findings. Perhaps now they'll pay better attention.

What possible advancements in the treatment of cancer may have been achieved over the past 34 years had U.S. government officials chosen to advance -- rather than suppress -- clinical research into the anti-cancer effects of cannabis? It's a shame we have to speculate; it's even more tragic that the families of Senator Kennedy and thousands of others must suffer while we do.

Breast Cancer Cure

Lung cancer is the top most leading disease among women and breast cancer is at second position. Previously, breast cancer affects the women in the age group of 40 to 50, but now even the younger women are getting prone to this disease. Breast cancer is a fatal disease which can be considered as a major cause of cancer deaths in women. But, despite of these statistics, many experts have stated that new researches will soon help for innovative breast cancer cure strategies.

Although, there is no magic bullet in existence till now, still several women undergoing breast cancer have been cured. Those women who are not cured yet are at stage 4 breast cancer (advanced stage). At this stage, the cancerous cells get spread in other body organs as well. Women who undergo breast cancer diagnosis in early stages can be cured and survived. In order to cure your cancer more easily, one needs to keep on examining the symptoms and early signs of breast cancer on regular basis. This can be done on clinical as well as personal level. Due to the advancement in the technology and researches a number of breast cancer cure treatments came into existence, which has ultimately reduced the death rate due to breast cancer. A large number of breast cancer detection and therapies strategies contribute to the reduction in breast cancer patients.
Breast Cancer Cure Strategies:
A number of strategies are developed to treat breast cancer, some are biological and some are clinical.
Clinical treatments for breast cancer cure:
Range of breast cancer cure treatments is being developed to increase the survival rate of the patients. Some of the treatments include:
    Breast Cancer Cure
  • Strong chemotherapy along with stem cell transplant: Stem cells: Here stem cells refer to the cells undeveloped that can refill the developed cells throughout the body. The bone marrow cells that get destroyed due to the high dose of chemotherapy treatment are replenished by the stem cells. The stem cells can be collected either from the patient or the donor before chemotherapy. More aggressive chemotherapy is also available for treating such situation, but it has a number of side effects allied with it.
  • Sentinel lymph node biopsy: In this type of treatment, radioactive substance or dyes are used to locate the lymph nodes where the possibility of their spread is greater. Some part of the lymph node is removed and observed under the microscope. If cancer cells are not found, surgeons will not take out more lymph nodes from the patient. If cancerous cells are found then it will be treated further.
  • Intra-operative radiation: Generally, radiation therapy is used after doing the surgery of breast cancer, in order to remove the entire breast cancer cells. Intra-operative radiation is a combination of both the treatments.
Biological or targeted therapies:
Use of targeted or biologic therapies is one of the recent strategies of breast cancer cure. The major benefit of breast cancer therapy is that they are specially designed to target the cancerous cells and thus result is less harm to the normal cells. Adopting this treatment reduces the risk of damage of normal cells surrounding the breast cancer cells. There are some unique genes and proteins that stimulate the growth of the breast cancer cells; this therapy helps to target those genes.
Targeted therapies:
  • Lapatinib (Tykerb): This drug obstructs with HER2 protein signals, thereby restricting the speed of growth of breast cancer cells. This drug is used along with chemotherapy.
  • Trastuzumab (Herceptin):This drug is used to target the cancer cells that get stimulated due to HER2 (human epidermal growth factor receptor2). This drug blocks the growth of the cancer cells. Almost one fourth part of breast cancer patients have lumps that can be cured by the combination of Trastuzumab with chemotherapy.
  • Bevacizumab (Avastin): This drug helps to create interference in the cancer's blood supply and this stops the growth of cancerous cells. It blocks the blood vessels which promotes the growth of cancerous cells.
These days a number of researches have been performed in regards to the breast cancer cure treatment. Adopting these treatments ultimately helps to reduce the rate of breast cancer patients.

Possible cancer cure found in blushwood shrub

CANCER patients are offering themselves as human guinea pigs as researchers investigate a possible cure for cancer found in north Queensland rainforests.

Scientists have identified a compound in the fruit of the native blushwood shrub that appears to "liquefy and destroy cancer with no side-effects", according to latest research.

Found deep in the remnants of a 130 million-year-old rainforest, the fruit extract may yet hold the secret antidote to Australia's No.1 killer disease.

Victoria Gordon, of EcoBiotics, an Atherton Tableland-based company, said they hoped to go to human clinical trials later this year.

Dr Gordon said a single dose injection of the extract, known as EBC-46, had been effective in 50 critically ill dogs and about a dozen cats and horses.

"This is proving to be something exceptional," she said.

"The tumour literally liquefies.

"There is a rapid knock-down of the tumour, it disintegrates within 24 hours and we have a rapid healing response.

"The biggest tumour we treated was the size of a Coke can in a dog, and that animal is fully healed and healthy."

Dr Gordon said it had worked on skin cancers, such as carcinomas and melanomas, and bone cancer, and was a possible treatment for breast, colon and prostate cancer.

But she warned wannabe human guinea pigs against seeking under-the-table treatment.

She said it was "immoral, illegal, and unscientific" to seek to be administered the drug before approval, likely to take up to seven years, by the Therapeutic Goods Administration.

"We have been inundated with calls – it shows there is such a need for a breakthrough in anti-cancer treatment," she said. "Most people understand when we explain the situation."

Former breast cancer sufferer Mena Crew, 65, said many dying of cancer would "do anything for a miracle cure".

"We would all like a magic cure, that would be wonderful, and I hope in my lifetime we find it," the breast cancer support volunteer said.

She has worked with more than 200 sufferers and some victims in her role with the Cancer Council Queensland.

"I don't want to kill the enthusiasm of all the wonderful research, but until it is proven it will do the job, we recommend they go with proven and conventional treatments," she said.

"It is good, however, to think the secret antidote may be growing in the jungle above Cairns."

THC Possible Cancer Cure?

THC Cancer Cure?
THC Cancer Cure?
The active ingredient in medical marijuana referred to as nine tetrahydrocannabinol or THC is at the moment being investigated for its different functions, in many clinical studies. One of the most recent results of THC that is now being researched is its capacity to inhibit the growth of tumors and this discovery may have far reaching penalties around the study associated with the treatment method of cancers. The results of the research study executed by Salazar et al. which have been printed within the Journal of Medical Investigation indicate that THC discovered in clinical hash oil triggers the autophagy of cancer cells.
Autophagy refers to the process of cell deterioration where the cells start destroying their selves. MMJ is acknowledged to inhibit tumor development by initiating a collection of events inside of cancer cells that triggers their demise in a very programmed method (also known as apoptosis). Clinical cannabis incorporates a range of beneficial cannabinoids along with other elements and their capability to create specific physiological adjustments is additionally being researched. Hash oil that is certainly loaded with these handy and remarkable cannabinoids like 9 THC and others may well carry the answer for the therapy of cancer as suggested by researchers in Spain who published their findings in the British Journal of Cancer.
Their study was largely geared towards managing prostate cancer and the results plainly confirmed that this collection of molecules which might be originally identified in cannabis may very well be a potential remedy. Nine THC doesn’t get rid of the cancer cells quickly and without any discrimination. Actually, the method of cell fatality is incredibly targeted and highly precise as THC adopts a cell surface receptor joining mechanism that triggers a cell signaling pathway, thereby triggering cell death. As these alterations are brought about in the cellular level with numerous molecular components and elements coming into participation, researchers were able to make use of knockout mice and siRNA to comprehend how the whole procedure performs. Apart from staying orderly and autophagy being one of several most significant measures contributing to this process of programmed cell death, the helpful biological consequences of cannabinoids in dealing with symptoms of other chronic conditions and disorders is also in progress.
Clinical marijuana not only retards the spread and progress of cancer, but it additionally eliminates them and its use within the prevention and treatment method of bowel cancer is well documented. Professor Chris Paraskeva in Bristol whose work is backed by Cancer Research Uk is investigating the anti-cancer attributes of cannabinoids for the treatment of this sort of cancer. Many of the studies have been carried out by using purified cannabinoid chemical substances and never cannabis alone that incorporates many other compounds. Moreover, there is no reliable evidence which indicates that smoking MMJ can cure cancer.
There are primarily two forms of cannabinoid receptors; CB1 and CB2 that cause the stream of biological functions inside of them. Even though the previous kind is principally found within the nerve cells in the brain and is responsible for any mind altering consequences of cannabis, the latter is located throughout the body and it might be the primary suspect that triggers the biological effects of the cannabinoids over the other areas in the body apart from the brain. So, designing ideal medication based mostly on the active elements which can be located in hash oil may possibly be essential to the treatment method of cancer.

Cure for Cancer Discovered? DCA, Cheap Cure, Pharmaceutical Companies Block It

As there is NO profit in the New Cure, Big Pharma wont spend the money (100 Million) to get this drug through to the market.
How does DCA work, briefly?
The Michelakis team reports that DCA turns on the mitochondria of cancer cells, allowing them to commit cellular suicide, or apoptosis.
Cancer cells shut down the mitochondria, which is the part of the cell that is involved in metabolism and, incidentally, initiates the cell suicide.
A non-cancerous cell will initiate apoptosis when it detects damage within itself that it cannot repair. But a cancer cell resists the suicide process. That is why chemotherapy and radiation treatments do not work very well and actually result in terrible side effects… the healthy cells actually die much easier.
Michelakis and his team discovered that they could re-activate the mitochondria of cancer cells. Not only that, the DCA is very effective in doing it: To quote from the Michelakis paper: “The decrease in [Ca2+]i occurs within 5 min and is sustained after 48 hr of DCA exposure.” The mitochondria are so sensitive to DCA that just 5 minutes of exposure reactivates them for 48 hours.
Dichloroacetic acid, often abbreviated DCA, is the chemical compound with formula CHCl2COOH. It is an acid, an analogue of acetic acid, in which two of the three hydrogen atoms of the methyl group have been replaced by chlorine atoms. The salts and esters of dichloroacetic acid are called dichloroacetates. Salts of DCA have been studied as potential drugs because they inhibit the enzyme pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase.

Venus Remedies finds cancer cure technology

Chandigarh based Venus Remedies Limited, counted among the top 50 Indian Pharma companies having manufacturing facilities here and in Germany with a turnover of Rs 357 crores in 2011 has come up with a platform patent protected technology called Drug-Protein-Polymer-Conjugate (DPPC).which will help in alleviating cancer and receptor diseases by a specific and selective targeting.
Pawan Chaudhary, CMD, Venus Remedies said that "the demonstrable efficacy in pre-clinical proof of concept studies and an imminent entry into clinical phase of the first DPPC based therapy is commendable achievement of team VMRC. The company is keen to bring this wonder therapy to the market for the benefit of the mankind and would be seeking appropriate collaborations for co-development or technology commercialization of the therapy".
Dr. Manu Chaudhary, Joint Managing Director and Direct Rsearch said that "this platform technology holds its essence, with its significant potential to conjugate a wide range of drugs, thereby, not only reducing the amount of the drug to be targeted but will also be very cost-effective." She said that Venus has come up a platform technology that would bring revolution to the existing target based therapies, with its pronounced therapeutic efficacy, reduced side effects due to a reduction in dose by 4-6 times. It would be a life saving drug within reach of the common man.
Dr.Mufti Suhail Sayeed, Vice-President, Venus Remedies Limited disclosed that "this is a novel concept of triple conjugate-Drug-Protein-Polymer-Conjugate (DPPC). Triple conjugate employs a protein moiety capable of binding selectively to a particular target site, a polymer moiety covalently linked to a protein, and an active drug moiety. "

Living with Head and Neck Cancer

A friend sent me an article this past weekend on a new drug in a phase II clinical trial for squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (basically head and neck cancer). The drug is Reolysin and is owned by Oncolytics Biotech (ONCY) based in Alberta Canada. It is nearing completion of a phase II trial for head and neck cancer and has shown a positive response on 42% of the patients compared to 10% in the control group.

Reolysin is derived from a virus. According to this article, the virus is harmless to healthy human cells. One of the primary issues with chemotherapies is targeting the cancer cells while leaving the healthy cells alone. Cells have pathways and scientists and cancer researchers have been using different cell pathways to specifically target cancer cells.

This drug is attracted to the Ras pathway which is turned on in many cancer cells and turned off in healthy cells. Reolysin is infused into the body daily over a few day time period. The virus enters the cancer cells via the Ras pathway, multiplies, and overwhelms the cell until it dies leaving all healthy cells alone. The virus dies along with the cancer cell. This is pretty remarkable stuff.

The success of the phase II trial is prompting active planning for a phase III trial. Here is a link to the article…

For those that did not see the movie "I Am Legend" staring Will Smith, the storyline is a cancer vaccine derived from a virus which turns 90% plus of the population into flesh eating zombies who are killing the remaining human race.

Doctor Who Claimed She’d Found Cure For Cancer Sentenced to 14 Years in Jail

Doctor Who Claimed She’d Found Cure For Cancer Sentenced to 14 Years in Jail
May 24, 2013

A California doctor who claimed to sell a cancer cure for $100,000 is now headed to lock-up.

Christine Daniel fooled patients into paying for six months of treatment with herbal supplements she claimed would cure cancer condiseases such as diabetes, multiple sclerosis, and even cancer. Now she’s headed to jail for 14 years.

The herbal concoction which Daniel said cured disease was actually a mixture of sunscreen preservative, beef extract flavoring and other ingredients that would not have any effect on cancer or other diseases, expert testimony proved during trial. Daniel was found guilty of 11 counts including tax evasion and wire fraud.

Prosecutors say that in one case a 22 year old woman with a curable form of lymphoma actually died because she depended on Daniel for treatment instead of seeking traditional medical hel

People are so desperate to get well that they fall for this quackery. I'd like to know what else she was found guilty for. Glad she's going to jail.

Can we send the GOP to jail for lying and hurting the people??

skin cancer cure found

BEC5 is a name for a mixture of 1/3 solasonine and 1/3 solamargine in the “triglycoside” form, and 1/3 “diglycosides and monoglycosides” of these two basic molecules.
Solasonine and solamargine themselves are actually very similar (but not identical to) human cholesterol and steroid molecules.
By themselves, solasonine and solamargine don”t have anti-cancer activity because they can”t penetrate into cells, cancerous or normal. That”s why just eating the foods that contain these compounds won”t eliminate your skin cancer or even reduce your risk of getting it. In order for them to be effective, they need to be able to get into the cells. That”s where the glycosides come in.
Glycoside is a term used to describe molecules with various sugars attached to them. One of these simple sugars, called rhamnose, selectively latches on to  receptors present only in skin cancer cell membranes and in actinic keratosis. When you combine the solasonine and solamargine with rhamnose, they can get into the cells where they cause cancer cell death by destroying cell components called lysosomes.
Normal cells escape any harm, since the BEC5 can”t get into them.
80,000 success stories
According to Dr. Bill Cham, who has developed BEC since the 1980s, BEC5 is effective at extremely low-doses and is safe to use even very frequently.
Dr. Cham writes: “BEC5 is applied at least twice daily to the skin and may be applied much more frequently if rapid regression of the tumor is required. Some patients apply [it] up to 10 times daily. The cosmetic results after using BEC5 are very impressive and over 80,000 patients have now used BEC5 successfully.”

Laptop containing possible cancer cure stolen in Oklahoma

Researchers in Oklahoma are offering a $1,000 reward for the return of a stolen laptop which they claim contains a possible cure for prostate cancer.

Sook Shin and her husband, who work as cancer researchers at the Oklahoma University, decided to take a break from their work on Sunday to get some dinner. When they returned to their car they found it had been broken into and their Macbook had been stolen.

Unbeknownst to the thieves was that the device contains years of research into prostrate cancer, some of which can never be replicated, while others will take up to two years to redo.

Worse than that, the couple never made a backup of their data, which means that someone out there has the only copy of the valuable information, if it hasn't been wiped already. Why researchers would fail to make a backup boggles the mind, considering how easily a laptop can be stolen or how often hard drive failures occur, but even the brightest minds in science can make a fatal mistake.

And it could indeed prove fatal for many, as 30,000 men die in the US every year from prostate cancer, making a possible cure all the more essential.

Shin told local reporters at News 9 that she feel so guilty about the loss of the data, while her husband, Ralf Jankecht, pleaded with the thieves to return the laptop with the data intact, saying that it would be doing a good deed for society as a whole.

If the device is returned a $1,000 reward is on offer, with “no questions asked”, which could be more than it's worth on the black market. It remains to be seen if the thief hands it in or not.

Cancer Cure found by Cleveland University Professor, then they cut the funding!!!

DO NOT LET THIS THREAD DIE PEOPLE..
How many of you have close loved ones who are affected by Cancer every year..
or affected yourself.. well if you aren't yet..chances are you will be eventually.
From 1900 to 1950.. One in 50 people would get cancer.. or 2% of the populus..
Today that number is 6 in 10 or 60 PERCENT! Wake up idiots ..we are being conditioned
by the medical mafia to just accept this as truth and roll over and die! We are each one worth over $100,000.00 to the establishment from the time we are diagnosed to death!

Is it possible that there is a cure for cancer?

A Cleveland State University professor believes there is.

“Your best discoveries are from something you weren’t expecting,” says David Anderson, the associate dean of Cleveland State University.

That’s exactly how this breakthrough happened.

Kalafatis was working on a research project related to genes and blood coagulation. His students added a special compound to human cancer cells in a petri dish.

The compound killed the cells. This wasn’t the point of the experiment…

He’s since tested almost 60 different types of cancer. Tumors dramatically shrink – or are ..

entirely killed. And even better… there’s no damage to surrounding tissue or healthy cells.

Guess what happened.. they cut off his funding! How many times is this going to happen for the sake of greed.. it's purely disgusting S977

Cancer cure 'found' in Peking Duck

A MIRACLE cure for cancer and heart disease has reportedly been found in the UK, a British tabloid reports.
The Daily Express reports an extract of red yeast rice – the ingredient which gives Peking duck its colour – may slash cancer deaths by two-thirds and heart disease by a third. Heart disease is Britain’s biggest killer.

The extract apparently out-performed cholesterol-lowering drugs (known as statins), and reduced the chance of a repeat heart attack by 45 per cent.

Researcher David Capuzzi, director of the cardiovascular disease prevention program at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, said: “It’s important to recognise we do not know exactly how Chinese red yeast rice works.”

Doctors have warned that taking large amounts of the rice can cause liver damage.

Could crazy creature help us cure cancer?

There are a few contenders for the title of “weirdest critter in the world”. There is, for example, the three-toed sloth of Central America, which plays host to an entire ecosystem, including cyanobacteria, insects and other creatures that live in its sticky green fur.
Then there is the bizarre star-nosed mole, Condylura cristata, the only tentacled mammal, whose nose contains 30,000 microscopic sensory organs and which probably “sees” the world through touch. Or the mole-like Pyrenean desman, which looks like it has been put together out of random components — part rat, part mole, part shrew and part platypus. But surely the award must go to the mysterious and curiously engaging naked mole rat, Heterocephalus glaber, which is so weird in every respect that it resembles a creature from outer space.
Not only is it so unlike any other mammal that it almost seems to deserve its own category, but scientists now believe it may hold the key to curing cancer - and even, as Prof Steve Jones has mentioned before on these pages, extending the human life span. Uncommonly among mammals, mole rats do not get cancer, and last week, scientists announced that they have finally discovered why. They hope the “gloop” that they have identified in the animal could, in due time, form the basis of a host of new medicines to treat not only cancer but diseases ranging from atherosclerosis to arthritis.
It seems odd that the naked mole rat could spark any kind of medical revolution. In terms of its ecology and physiology, these animals are outliers. Naked mole rats are small, almost hairless rodents, about four inches long, that live in eastern and southern Africa. They are the only known “eusocial” mammal; the structure of a mole rat colony is identical to that of hive insects such as bees, and other arthropods such as termites.
There is one female, a queen, who mates with a handful of fertile males; the rest of the colony, which may number 80 or so, consists of sterile “workers”. That is only the start of the weirdness. They are, as their name suggests, naked (or nearly so — the odd whisker sprouts from their faces). They can run backwards as fast as forwards, and can manipulate their goofy incisor teeth individually, like chopsticks.
Unlike all other mammals, naked mole rats are not truly warm-blooded: they regulate their temperature in a crude fashion, more like a lizard than, say, a mouse. The oddities continue. Mole rats, which live off underground roots and tubers, appear not be able to feel pain, at least on their skin. The pain receptors found in all mammals — called nociceptors — are there, but they appear to be turned off, as German scientists found when they studied the way the receptors reacted to being immersed in corrosive chemicals. Douse a naked mole rat in acid, and it will not flinch. (It is finding out how these nociceptors operate that could be the key to new treatments for arthritis.) Mole rats can also survive extraordinarily high degrees of carbon dioxide, which builds up in their tunnels to levels that would kill a human in minutes.
In terms of cancer, numerous studies have failed to find a single tumour in the thousands of individuals sampled. Finally, there is the curious fact that these little rodents live for around 30 years — 10 to 20 times the life span of relatives such as rats and mice. For most species, there is a rough correlation between size and longevity. Big animals, the theory goes, tend to live longer because they are less likely to die quickly of cold or starvation or be eaten. Thus genes that confer health into old age can be passed on. That is why whales and giant tortoises live longer than shrews and mice. Mole rats should live a few years at most, but instead they can outlast chimpanzees. It is, however, that resistance to cancer — which is probably related to their longevity — that has proved the most intriguing puzzle. Now, Vera Gorbunova and colleagues at the University of Rochester in New York have identified a polysaccharide — a gloopy, sugar-based natural polymer - found in naked mole rat cells that stops tumours growing. The scientists, whose study was published in the current edition of Nature, suggest that the finding “opens new avenues for cancer prevention and life-extension”.
The chemical, called high-molecular-mass hyaluronan (HMM-HA), acts as a kind of lubricant, allowing mole rats to squeeze their Plasticine-like bodies through the smallest and most convoluted tunnels:
“They can virtually turn somersaults in their skin,” Chris Faulks, a scientist at Queen Mary, University of London said this week. It seems, therefore, that the ability of HMM-HA to confer cancer resistance was a happy evolutionary accident. And one day, it may be possible to engineer the ability to produce HMM-MA in human tissues — hopefully without the side effect, as Dr Faulks says, of making us all end up looking like naked mole rats.
Of course, this isn’t the first time that an extraordinary feature in an animal has been seized on as a possible cure for human ailments. While the thesis of Dr I. William Lane’s Sharks Don’t Get Cancer, published in 1992, is now widely held to be incorrect, crocodiles have an extraordinary ability to fight off bacterial infections: injured crocs have been in bacterially infested swamps, blood pouring out of open wounds, yet remained infection-free. Then there is one of the most intriguing findings of recent decades — that chimpanzees do not get Aids, despite being susceptible to the same group of retroviruses as humans. In fact, it is now believed that the Aids epidemic started when the virus jumped species from ape to human, probably in the forests of west Africa around 100 years ago, as a result of a hunting accident or by consumption of ape meat.
While chimps can get infected by the virus, they do not go on to suffer the disease: the reason why may lurk in the one per cent of the chimp genome that differs from ours. That we can solve medical mysteries by looking at our close cousins is not surprising; yet finding that an animal so weird, and so ugly, as the naked mole rat could one day lead to a cure for cancer seems utterly bizarre. However, this creature has gained the respect of an increasing number of scientists: robust to the point of near-indestructibility, living in perfect conflict-free communes, immune to pain and capable of spending years underground at a time, this meekest of animals could, should the apocalypse strike, be in pole position to inherit the Earth.

Cure for Cancer found

It's a headline that many of us never thought we'd see in our lifetime, but it would appear that researchers have finally discovered a cure for Cancer.
Scientists from the University of Bunkum-on-the-Wold claim that if you're not born between the 21st June and the 22nd of July, there is no chance that you will be cancer.
The news was met with rapturous applause as the waiting journalists gathered to hear the long-awaited announcement. It's now envisaged that the government will effectively halt all planned spending on research into the disease and channel it back into the arms race and trying to find Dusty Bin Laden.

For all the running, cycling, ribbon-wearing, and head-shaving done by residents of Canada and the western world, we are actually the least optimistic that a cure for cancer will be found within our lifetime, suggests a new international survey.
According to the Ipsos Reid survey, conducted for Canada.com, residents of this country are the fourth least likely, among international residents surveyed, to believe a cure is within reach.
Fifty-one per cent of Canadians surveyed said they believe a cure is imminent.
The only nations more skeptical were Germany, Italy, and Hungary. Following Canada, was Britain, the United States, Poland, France, Belgium and the Dutch.
Meanwhile, 78 per cent of Indians surveyed said they believe a cure for cancer will be discovered before they die.
Argentina, China, Mexico and Russia were also among the top five most optimistic countries, followed by Brazil, South Korea, Spain, Turkey and the Czech Republic.
"I just wonder whether part of the optimism is benign or blissful," said Ipsos Reid pollster John Wright, noting confidence was strongest in countries that are arguably less sophisticated in terms of their medical knowledge.
"Other countries that are on hot pursuit everyday trying to find a cure for this, their populations know that it's much more difficult."
Terrence Sullivan, president and CEO of Cancer Care Ontario, said talking about a cure for cancer is difficult, because of the many facets of the disease.
"Cancer is not one disease — it's hundreds of different diseases," said Sullivan, who is also an associate professor at the University of Toronto's Department of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation.
"It's not like saying you're going to reduce heart disease or eliminate HIV infection.
"The whole idea of curing the disease is a very good aspiration, but what we're learning is effective ways of winning the game of yards with cancer," he said.
"The disease that killed Terry Fox would likely not have killed him if he were diagnosed today — not because of one big bang, but because of multiple developments in technique, from surgery to chemotherapy to radiation, that would have given him a better shot at survival," he said. "It's not a silver bullet, but it's multiple weapons that are being used now."
Sullivan said a general sense of optimism in some countries may spill over into the realm of medical advancements, despite the odds being stacked against an all-encompassing cancer cure being discovered any time soon.
"India is having a spectacular decade with respect to their economy, so there's no reason to believe this wouldn't confer greater buoyancy," he said. "Economic development improves life expectancy, so there are real relationships there. Countries that are showing rapidly expanding economies will have optimism."
Wright, the pollster, said he considers himself among the 49 per cent of Canadians who believe a cure is imminent.
That said, he said he can sympathize with those who appear less hopeful.
Noting five of his wife's friends have beat breast cancer in the past five years and are now leading healthy lives even though some have undergone mastectomies and hysterectomies in the process, he suggested the poll may be more a sign of "sober thought."
"The question was whether or not we're ever going to see a total cure," he said. "Maybe what were seeing in this is . . . maybe not a cure, but maybe a management of it. Maybe the capacity to deal with it and an understanding that it's not a death sentence. It's just a conditional quality-of-life issue."
He suggested cancer is now a disease that's "under control" and that fewer people are dying from it than was the case 20 years ago.
Sullivan mirrored those thoughts and reflected on his own career when discussing the progress made in the field of cancer research.
"Twenty years ago, when I first got exposed to the field of cancer, survival rates were pretty poor, but today, close to two-thirds of the population (with cancer) is living five years or more," Sullivan said, adding that the key for Canada is "being organized and aligned as a country so we have well-organized, articulated plans" to combat cancer.
"In many common types, like prostate cancer and thyroid cancer, about 95 per cent of the population living five years or more from those conditions."
Some conspiracy theorists argue that should a cure actually be found, the billion-dollar cancer research industry might cease to exist, putting thousands out of work. But Wright doesn't buy it.
"I think in this age of transparency, where you can announce something in the morning on Twitter or the Internet and in the afternoon the entire world can know about it, I just don't think that's a valid issue," he said.
As part of the poll, more than 24,000 adults were surveyed in 23 countries representing three-quarters of the world's GDP.
The poll is considered accurate to within plus or minus 3.1 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.

Burzynski: Cancer Cure Documentary /movie online/

This document is personal, it will touch you hard with Burzinsky´s message. "The trillion dollar cancer industry has been waging an illegal and immoral war on Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski for years, attempting to stop him... that's right, STOP him, from saving the lives of cancer sufferers through the use of his patented breakthrough therapy, which uses a natural and non-toxic substance called antineoplastons.

This video tells the story of how Dr. Burzynski, and the patients his therapy has cured of what are normally terminal cancers, have fought the FDA and the big drug companies who have continually and systematically tried to discredit and punish a man who's only purpose in life has been to develop and perfect a life-giving and non-toxic cure for the disease of the 20th century. Please spread the word about Dr. Burznski and donate to the cause or offer your support in any way you can. Don't let the in-humane and evil actions of the FDA (the puppet of the drug industry) destroy the hope of millions of cancer sufferers around the world. It's time to unite....
