A MIRACLE cure for cancer and heart disease has reportedly been found in the UK, a British tabloid reports.
The Daily Express reports
an extract of red yeast rice – the ingredient which gives Peking duck
its colour – may slash cancer deaths by two-thirds and heart disease by a
third. Heart disease is Britain’s biggest killer.
The extract
apparently out-performed cholesterol-lowering drugs (known as statins),
and reduced the chance of a repeat heart attack by 45 per cent.
Researcher
David Capuzzi, director of the cardiovascular disease prevention
program at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, said: “It’s
important to recognise we do not know exactly how Chinese red yeast rice
works.”
Doctors have warned that taking large amounts of the rice can cause liver damage.
